Single room by request

This TWO centre tour staying in 4* hotels offers some of the best riding roads and most interesting parts of Germany.

We set off through France and via the Belgian Ardennes, where we have a nice lunch stop, to our first overnight stop on the outskirts of Cologne.

It is over 80 years since the famous Dambusters raids, and on our way to the Harz Mountains we stop off at the Möhne Dam, one of two dams breached by 617 Squadron that night. If you want to see some wartime pics of Operation Chastise click here. When you visit the dams you can actually see the extent of the damage evidenced by the different coloured stonework of the repairs...

On the night of May 16th 1943 nineteen Lancaster bombers of 617 Squadron took off from Scampton in Lincolnshire. They had three primary targets: the Möhne, Eder and Sorpe dams. At 00.56 hours, the Möhne Dam was breached and by 01.54 hours so was the Eder Dam. Today you can ride your motorcycle around the lake and wonder just how Barnes Wallis could conceive the Bouncing Bomb that proved such a morale booster to our folks back home at a crucial point in World War Two.

On then to Harz Mountains following a great route around Kassel. The Harz offers a rich and varied cultural environment - historic castles and palaces to discover, old towns with their wooden framed buildings nestling within the mountains and excellent motorcycling roads to see them all!  Our base for three nights in the Harz Mountains is a 4* hotel set in pleasant grounds that occupy a prime spot amidst a picturesque setting of river valleys and forested hills, with a cold welcome beer on arrival! After your motorbike ride out through the mountains you can pop your bike in the unerground car park, and enjoy the relaxing Wellness Oasis facilities of an indoor pool, sauna, steambath, fitness room, and maybe a massage for those aching limbs...

Once in the Harz we ride our motorbikes to the Torfhaus, a well-known meeting point for motorcyclists with great views towards the Brocken. Come motorbiking with us and ride the Kyffhauser with 37 sets of hairpins (video of our last visit here) and call in at picturesque Goslar!

If you feel like letting off steam take time off the motorcycle to ride on the Harz Narrow Gauge Railway that meanders through some beautifully picturesque hills and mountains, or walk to the Gondola Lift and ride to the top of the 971 metre high Wurmberg, perhaps riding back down on a Monster Scooter, or simply enjoy a second optional ride out on your free day in the Harz.

We say goodbye to the Harz and enjoy a short, scenic day as we ride to Leipzig our base for a further three nights.

Leipzig is not only famous because of its long trade fair tradition but also because of its multifaceted music and cultural scene. Owing to its unique system of passageways, the historic city centre exudes a distinctive flair. Stylish boutiques and top department stores invite visitors to shop and stroll.

Most of the city’s sights are located within walking distance, e. g. the Old Town Hall, St. Thomas Church, St. Nicholas Church, diverse museums and galleries. Cultural enjoyment is among others provided by the Gewandhaus, the Leipzig Opera or the world-famous St. Thomas Boys Choir.  Our 4* hotel is ideally located directly opposite the famous "Gewandhaus" (concert hall).

And most importantly of all, Leipzig is ideally located for our exciting ride outs to Colditz and Berlin!

The history of the iconic Colditz Castle dates back 1,000 years within which it has witnessed a diverse range of use. However, most famous are the years between 1940 and 1945 when high-level officers from the Allied forces were held prisoners in the internment camp at Colditz Castle. Despite its escape-proof reputation some POWs came up with highly inventive escape plans and managed to flee, which led to the legendary fame of Colditz Castle. Today, the picturesque place overlooking the Mulde River is a popular destination for a day trip from Leipzig. So come and escape to rather than from Colditz!  (and it's only just over 30 miles from Leipzig!)

On your free day explore in Leipzig or visit the vibrant German capital, Berlin. We will provide you with a route but we suggest you take one of the regular and efficient trains. Once there explore on the easy to use underground or on one of the "hop on, hop off" city bus tours. An alternative is to visit the fascinating motorcycle museum at Augustusburg in the grounds of an old castle - sometimes known as the "biker's castle".

We commence our journey home with a mixture of motorway and country route to our overnight stay in Koblenz at the confluence of the rivers Mosel and Rhine.  Our 4* hotel is located near the castle and next to the riverside walking path.

Our final day takes us along a scenic route around the Nurburgring and through the Eifel on our way back to Calais.

If you have never ridden a motorcycle in Germany you don't know what you are missing - and this tour has a very rich sample of what's available!!!

Longest day on prepared routes is 320 miles.
