Provence

If you love your bike Provence is a good location and a host of specially planned rides out await you! Follow the route of the Tour de France up and over Mont Ventoux to discover that its snow-capped summit is actually made of chalk! Don’t be embarrassed on your big touring bike when the more agile cyclists actually manage to keep up with you on the downhill grades (nutters!) but it is a technical route.

Take a day out to ride through the challenging terrain of the Ardeche Gorge, take samples home from the local Côte du Rhone vineyards or follow the ancient Via Domitia, your gateway to the Luberon and home to some of the most beautiful villages in France.

Visit the Roman amphitheatre at Nimes, explore more Roman architecture in the city of Arles and ride through the Camargue in search of wild horses. Visit Avignon to see the famous bridge, ride further south to the spa town of Aix-en-Provence and onwards to the coast where the rocky coves of Cassis provide a wonderful Mediterranean vista.

Ride past ancient villages and monuments through a countryside full of fragrant floral perfumes to stay in a traditional two star hotel in Provence. Centrally located, the property has a pleasant terrace, all rooms are en-suite and there is secure parking in the garage for your motorcycle. On your evening of arrival dinner is provided at the hotel's partner restaurant and there are other restaurants nearby so that you can sample all the delights of the local Provençal cuisine. Enjoy fine local wines and a warm welcome from English speaking staff in this friendly part of southern France.
